Les Miller has passionately pursued nature photography since 1999.  He focuses on capturing the breath-taking scenes of the Appalachian Mountains and Eastern Shore. In addition, he enjoys photographing the monuments of the Nation’s Capital under various lighting conditions.

Les is a member of the North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA), the Virginia Professional P hotographers’ Association (VPPA), Southeastern Professional Photographers Association (SEPPA), and the Professional Photographers of America (PPA).  He attends workshops and seminars hosted by these organizations to maintain pace with the latest techniques, technology, and equipment in image-making. In addition, he is a past president of the Charleston Camera Club in Charleston, WV.

His images have won numerous awards. Les achieved the PPA Photographer of the Year, Silver Level award in 2006 and Bronze Level award in 2008. His image “Walking on Water” won the Best Portrait of Pets/Animals, and was awarded Merit Print at the 2006 VPPA Annual Print Competition. It also was awarded the prestigious Loan Collection honors at the 2006 PPA International Print Competition. Les has earned numerous other Merit Print honors at VPPA, SEPPA, and PPA print competitions as well where they were also accepted for exhibition.  Additionally, Les' images have been juried into the 2005 and 2009 NANPA Showcase competitions. He was also a winner in the 2008 National Wildlife Refuge Association Refuge Photo Contest.

Les’ images have been published in Wonderful West Virginia magazine and NANPA Currents magazine.  

He assists nationally renowned nature photographer Jim Clark in Horizon Photography Workshops field trips. He has also presented a nature photography program to the VPPA Northern District.
